Chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Monday promised to bring in new revenue laws, which would put an end to corruption. “We have been getting thousands of complaints about corruption. I am not saying everyone is corrupt, but some are indulging in corruption. This can be put an end with the measures we will take,” KCR said at an election public meeting in Vikarabad, which is part of Chevella Lok Sabha constituency.

The CM said corruption would be dealt with severely, and that he had got an SMS from a doctor who informed him that in two revenue offices, he was forced to cough up Rs.30,000 as bribe at each place. “I felt ashamed when he told me that. I will deal with corruption firmly,” he said.

KCR asked why should people have to take fresh caste certificates from revenue offices as the caste would not change. He said that the caste certificate once taken would remain valid throughout a person’s lifetime.

The chief minister said law relating to revenue, panchayat raj and municipalities will be changed or new laws brought into force, which

will reduce the scope for corruption. He said the public will not even have to pay repeated visits for bank loans as that system will also be streamlined to remove corruption.

To a long-pending demand of the people of Chevella that GO 111 be scrapped, the CM said the demand will be fulfilled. The GO stipulates that no construction activity should take place within 10 km range of water bodies, and since Osman Sagar and Himayat Sagar are located there, the restrictions are in place. Asking people to vote for TRS candidate Ranjit Reddy, he said after the Lok Sabha elections, he will take necessary action to scrap GO 111.

KCR reminded the people that it was only in Telangana that the government is supplying 24/7 free power to farmers, and that nowhere in the country it is being done.

He said that after the elections, the construction of double-bedroom houses will be speeded up, and the government will also provide financial help to the economically poor who want to construct house on their own land.
