The health department on Friday launched 204 new ambulances and 228 Amma Odi vehicles for pregnant women and 34 hearse vehicles to enhance the emergency medical services in the state.

The vehicles will be deployed from August 1 and will take the total number of emergency response service vehicles to 466.

The vehicles will replace the existing 108 ambulances and 102 Amma Odi vehicles. Out of 426 ambulances in service, 175 will be replaced with new ones while 29



ambulances will be deployed to address high-demand areas, according to a statement.

With the addition of 204 new ambulances, the state's fleet will soar to a total of 455 ambulances, augmenting the reach and effectiveness of emergency medical services.

Health minister Harish Rao reassured the public that the addition of these 466 new vehicles will significantly strengthen healthcare services in Telangana.
