Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy said the 25,000 acres that were pooled in Maheshwaram and neighboring areas for setting up pharma companies would now be used to develop a new city, which would compete with the New York city in the United States.

The lands that were pooled in the past would be used for establishing a sports university, medical and health hub, electric vehicles, batteries manufacturing units and other purposes. This idea was proposed as setting up pharma companies would pollute the local areas. It was now being planned to set up universities, IT companies and permit a few pharma companies, which were into manufacturing of tablets without any pollution, he said.

The State Government was initiating steps for this, with Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu being entrusted with the task of framing the detailed plans, he said, adding that Metro rail services would be extended till Hayathnagar.

“The State Government will develop a new city in this region, which will compete with New York City,” Revanth Reddy said after launching the safety equipment distribution scheme for toddy tappers at Abdullapurmet, Rangareddy district here on Sunday.

As requested by the toddy tappers, five acres of land would be identified in the villages exclusively for planting palm trees. Similarly, instructions have been issued to the officials to plant palm trees under

Vanamahotsavam along the new roads that were being laid across the State, he said.

Reminding that Ramoji Film City was close by, the Chief Minister said the State Government was planning to develop another film city in the region.

“Munugode, Ibrahimpatnam areas under Rachakonda limits have several picturesque locations and we want to get the Hindi film industry from Mumbai to this place,” he said, stressing that Rangareddy would be a new tourist destination in the State.

Claiming that the Congress government had developed the Outer Ring Road, the international airport and brought several IT and pharma companies to Hyderabad, the Chief Minister said Rangareddy was the only place in the country where an acre land was sold for Rs.100 crore. All this was due to the efforts put in by the Congress government in the past, he claimed and questioned the contribution of the previous BRS government.

“You might have brought drugs and ganja to the city. But impressed with the Congress government’s good work, BRS MLAs are joining the party,” Revanth Reddy said.

The Chief Minister further said that the State government was keen to listen to the unemployed youth about their issues. “If there are any issues, they can meet Ministers and explain their issues. All the issues will be addressed, it is our responsibility,” Revanth Reddy said.
