The State government has decided to relocate the wholesale fruit market at Gaddi Annaram to a state-of-the-art fruit market meeting international standards in a sprawling 178 acre campus near Koheda village of Pedda Amberpet mandal, Marketing and Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao announced here on Wednesday.

Replying to a question raised by TRS members M Kishan Reddy and Teegala Krishna Reddy during question hour in the State Assembly, the Minister said the existing Gaddi Annaram Fruit Market was unable to cater to the needs of farmers and fruit wholesalers, besides lacking space for truck parking in the area. “The new market was being planned to offer better services and trade facilities for the farmers,” the Minister said.

expansion of city, heavy traffic congestion was also reported near Gaddi Annaram fruit market every day. Taking all these factors inbto consideration, the government has decided to shift the Fruit market to Koheda village, he said.Adding this Minister said the proposed market also very near to the Outer Ring Road (ORR) which further improves easy accessibility for both farmers and for export business.

Talking about development works of the new market, the Minister said that the land acquisition process was completed and Rs 9.38 crore payments were made to the farmers. Mentioning about funds allocation for the construction of a new fruit market, the Minister said that the government was ready to sanction the required funds for the completion of the project.
