New Medchal traffic DCP office demolished

Mon 26 Jun 2023, 11:38:55
The Medchal traffic police demolished their newly opened office of the deputy commissioner of police on Sunday, after Cyberabad police commissioner Stephen Raveendra came to know that the land belonged to the HMDA. Incidentally, he had inaugurated the office on June 6.

"Recently we constructed sheds for the new Medchal traffic DCP office. After learning that a HMDA road was passing through the premises, we voluntarily demolished the structure," said K. Venkat Reddy, ACP (traffic). Police said the land was initially given to the traffic police.

"After constructing sheds, we began partially operating from

there. But after confirming with HMDA officials, we handed over the area to the HMDA. We have approached the district collector to allocate an alternative piece of land around the ORR service road in Medchal or Hakimpet", Reddy said.

"Being a law enforcement agency it's our duty to follow the rules so we ourselves demolished the shed," the officer said.

There was a lack of coordination between the police and HMDA officials and the police, assuming that the land belonged to the department, constructed the structure spending Rs 28 lakh, sources said.
