Telangana State will have a new rice mill industry policy in August to ensure that the farmers benefit through MSP to their produce and millers get on the business. For this, a new business wing will be set up to take care of the farmers as well as the rice millers, according to Finance and Civil Supplies Minister E Rajender yesterday.
Along with IT Minister K T Rama Rao, Civil Supplies Corporation Chairman Peddi Sudershan Reddy, Commissioner Akun Sabharwal, Rajender conducted a review meeting with rice millers and assured to protect the interests of the farmers and rice mills industry in the State.
Talking to media persons later, Sudershan Reddy announced that a new Rice mill industry policy will be launched during August first week this year. For this, the officials will go through various policies in other States and come up with a new
policy, he said, adding that the interests and welfare of farmers was of paramount importance in Telangana. Rice Millers industry is completely relied on farming community and its production and the issues will be taken to the notice of Sub-Committee of food processing, Sudershan Reddy said.
Another round of meeting will be conducted with the rice millers next week of August, Sudershan Reddy said. The new policy will be formulated in such a way that the vision of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is implemented for the cause of the farmers, who should flourish with farming activity. Already the flagship programs like Mission Kakatiya and Mission Bhagiratha and others added to the advantages of the agriculture activity in the State and “this time we expect more farm produce”, the Civil Supplies chairman said.
