“The Telangana government will build a new Secretariat complex along with a new Legislative Assembly 100% at Bison Polo ground“, chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao announced on Wednesday . The Prime Minister has promised that the Bison Polo ground land will be given to the state government, the CM added.
Addressing a press conference, the chief minister said when the government sought the land, it was not just for constructing a new Secretariat.“We asked land for expansion of road from Paradise to the Outer Ring Road connecting Rajiv Rahadari. We asked for 60 acres of defence land from Paradise to Secunderabad Club. Along with the road expansion that will lead to Rajiv Rahadari which is the lifeline for North Telangana, we will build a new Secretariat and Legislative Assembly
complex,“ an ecstatic CM said.
The chief minister also said “several suggestions were received to replicate the look of the current assembly building which is a heritage structure. While the interiors can be done as required, the suggestion was to replicate the façade,“ he said, adding “the suggestions are being examined.“
The CM, fielding some questions, took a tough line against those opposing the government's Secretariat plan on the excuse that the city will lose a sporting ground. “There are nearly 500 acres dedicated for sports grounds and facilities. Most of them are not being used for sports. What is happening at Gachibowli stadium? The indoor stadium is being used for hosting weddings,“ he said.
