A new-look ‘Telangana Talli’ statue will be unveiled in the Secretariat on December 9, official sources said. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has decided to invite AICC leader Sonia Gandhi for the unveiling ceremony. He has also decided to hold Telangana Talli celebrations every year on December 9 across the state. The date commemorates the announcement by the Congress-led UPA government at the Centre on initiating the process of formation of Telangana state for the first time in 2009.

It also marks the birthday of Sonia Gandhi, who played a key role in the formation of Telangana state as the chairperson of UPA.

Revanth Reddy, who is keen on making changes to the existing

Telangana Talli statue, sought suggestions from all stakeholders in that regard. He said that a decision on going about the new version will be taken after the proposal is debated in the Legislative Assembly during the upcoming session in July. The Chief Minister stated that the existing statue bearing gold anklets and a crown resembles a woman from a feudal landlord family. He wanted it to look like a rural woman or a revolutionary woman who fought the feudal lords.

Revanth Reddy released the state government's official anthem "Jaya Jaya He Telangana" after making a few changes during the decennial celebrations of state formation on June 2.
