The Central government on Thursday approved the new zonal system in Telangana that guarantees that 95% of all jobs in a given zone are reserved for locals. This not only opens up tremendous employment opportunities for people in the State but also marks the beginning of fulfilment of one of the major promises of the State government with respect to providing employment to youth of the State.
The Union Ministry of Home Affairs on Thursday issued a gazette notification giving the go ahead to the State to implement the zonal system, an issue that the Chief Minister had been pursing with the Centre for sometime now. The proposal for the zonal system was approved by the State Cabinet and sent
to the Centre for Presidential assent which was given by President Ram Nath Kovind within days of the Chief Minister pursuing the matter with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi late last week.
It may be recalled that the Chief Minister had been relentlessly pursuing the approval of the zonal system to fulfil a commitment given by the TRS government to the people of the State that 95% of all recruitments to government jobs will be reserved for people from the respective zones. The new system comprises seven new zones and two multi-zones in place of the two zones that Telangana was left with after bifurcation.
