The National Investigation Agency (NIA) filed a chargesheet against 17 operatives of terror group Hizb-Ut-Tahrir (HuT), including six from Telangana, who were arrested in a joint operation by the MP ATS and CI cell of Telangana police in May.
The six from Telangana include Mohammed Salim, Abdur Rahman, Mohammed Abbas Ali, Shaik Junaid, Mohammed Hameed and Mohd Salman.
Investigations revealed that the accused were clandestinely recruiting and building their cadre in Telangana and Madhya Pradesh. It has also been established that
the accused were drawn by the HuT radical ideology, which aimed at creating a Sharia-based Islamic nation in India using force.
They were being trained to carry out attacks on police personnel and targeting individuals of different communities.
The intent was to threaten the unity, integrity, security, and sovereignty of India, with the explicit goal of striking terror among the people," the NIA said.
Further investigations are in progress, they said.
