The vehicular movement has been restricted across the city from Monday evening following the complete lock down imposed by the police from 7 pm to 6 am.
The move is aimed at preventing people from venturing out of their homes and teams of policemen put up barricades at different places in the city and enquired with the motorists about their purpose of going around.
At Banjara Hills Road No 12, a police team waved down vehicles moving on the road towards Jubilee Hills. The police checked the identity cards of the persons and other support documents to confirm if their movement was necessary or
not.
“All these restrictions are meant for the safety of the people and we are requesting them to remain indoors,” said E Ravi, Sub Inspector, Banjara Hills police station.
At sharp 7 pm, the police patrol vehicles moved around and asked the shops selling essential items to close down their establishments. Senior police officials were issuing instructions to their subordinates to ensure full compliance to the order.
The police seized a few vehicles during the night lock down and will be registering cases against the owners for violating the orders.
