The weatherman has forecast a dip in night temperatures ranging from four to five degrees Celsius below seasonal average for the next 24 hours.
In a warning issued on Thursday, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said: ‘Minimum temperatures are likely to be below normal by -4 to -5 deg Celsius at isolated places over Telangana.’
YK Reddy, director (in-charge), IMD, Hyderabad, said: “There is a marked difference in the
temperatures that are usually recorded during this time of the year. The main reason why the temperatures have nosedived is because of the clear skies.”
Clear skies during night allow the radiation to escape, meaning, the sun’s heat that arrives during the day time radiates back into the sky during night, leaving the surface of the earth bereft of heat. “Whenever there are no clouds, heat travels back to the sky,” he said.
