Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan has said she had not received any formal invitation from the state government to join the grand Ashada Bonalu celebrations on Sunday afternoon.
"As usual, I wasn't invited. I'm celebrating the festival here, with my Raj Bhavan pariwar," she said. She offered the traditional 'bonam' and partook in the bonalu celebrations at Matha temple inside the Raj Bhavan premises.
Soundararajan carried the bonam on her head in a procession along with women staff members from her official
residence towards the temple. She offered bonam to Nalla Pochamma Thalli and performed pujas.
"I prayed for the good health, prosperity, good education and jobs to the people of Telangana state. The festival represents the state’s true culture 'ammavaaru's blessings are with the people," Soundararajan said in Telugu.
The Raj Bhavan was decked up for the festivities and women were attired in their traditional best. Telangana folk music accompanied the celebrations.
