There would be no
more drinking water supplies from Singur and Manjira reservoirs to residents of
Greater Hyderabad with immediate effect, consumers now have to completely
depend only on Krishna and Godavari drinking water projects.These two
reservoirs meet 35 to 40 per cent of the drinking water needs of the twin
cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad.

Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) has stopped the
supplies from Singur and Manjira reservoirs as per the directions given by
chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao who favours utilisation of the water from
the two reservoirs to meet the drinking water needs of Medak district under
Mission Bhagiratha and also the irrigation needs of that district.
