Normalcy restored in Bhainsa

Nirmal: Bhainsa, which was reeling under communal tensions since Sunday midnight, has returned to a semblance of normalcy on Tuesday. However, heavy security was deployed in all streets of the town for preventing untoward incidents.

Karimnagar Range DIG P Pramod Kumar told pressmen that the tense situation came under control following a slew of efforts of cops and local authorities. Police booked six persons and detained over 20 persons allegedly involved in the clashes. The accused were shifted to Adilabad. They kept tab on movement of suspicious persons. Similarly, Section 144 of Criminal Procedure Code was imposed in the town for three days since Monday, he narrated.

The IPS officer further informed that investigations were being carried into the clashes. He stated that fool-proof security arrangements were made for smooth conduct of ensuing civic polls to Bhainsa municipality. He said that peace was restored in the town and no fresh clashes were taken place on Tuesday. He cautioned that stern action would be taken against those who provoke a section.

Inspector General P Pramod Kumar, Ramagundam Commissioner of Police V Satyanarayna, his counterpart from Siddipet Joel Davis, Nirmal Superintendent C Shashidhar Raju, Adilabad SP Vishnu Warrier, Rajanna-Sircilla SP Rahul Hegde, and Kamareddy SP Swetha Reddy camped in the town for supervising bandobast in the wake of the communal violence.

On the other hand, internet services continued to be stopped in erstwhile Adilabad for second day for preventing circulation of provocative messages and false information about the clashes. Consequently, mobile phone users were forced to visit neighbouring Nizamabad, Peddapalli and Jagtial districts for accessing internet. Customers of various banks struggled to make transactions online.

On Sunday midnight, tension prevailed when a group torched around 23 houses, 23 motor bikes and a four-wheeler belonging to another group in a colony in Bhainsa town. Some unknown youngsters honked his motor bike in the colony, titled Korva Colony, in the midnight, annoying the residents, who were asleep and reprimanded the bikers, who later allegedly indulged in burning of vehicles and homes, leading to the clashes.
