Nirmal: Normalcy was on Monday restored in Bhainsa town where tension prevailed after two groups pelted stones at each other at Shivajinagar on Sunday midnight. Two vehicles and three houses were allegedly vandalised. One person sustained injuries.
Karimnagar range In-charge DIG P Pramod Kumar and Nirmal Superintendent of Police C Shishidhar Raju toured the town on Monday morning to review the situation. “The situation is under control and the town is peaceful. Around 300 policemen including three ASPs and the Mancherial DCP have been deployed to prevent any further untoward incidents. Patrolling has been intensified, besides posting pickets,” Shashidhar Raju told.
The SP informed that the 24-hour curfew imposed in the town to bring the situation under control would be in force for some more days. Commercial establishments remained
closed and gathering of five or more persons was prohibited as part of precautionary steps to avoid tensions.
Bhainsa DSP Narsing Rao said that members of a group resorted to hurling stones against another group when a person, who was in an inebriated condition, created a nuisance in their holy place, triggering the tension. About 20 suspects, who were responsible for the clashes, were taken into custody by the police.
It is learnt that the two sections clashed with each other with large sticks around midnight. Vehicles and some houses belonging to both the groups were damaged in the clash. A person sustained minor injuries in stone-pelting. Cops dispersed the warring groups. Nirmal Superintendent of Police C Shashidhar Raju rushed to the place and took steps to restore peace.
