Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao countered the charge that his party, Bharat Rashtra Samithi, is a B-team of the BJP by asserting that the BRS is a team of farmers, minorities and Dalits.
The statement comes amid reports suggesting that the BRS was going soft on the BJP, especially after the Delhi liquor scam. Rao's daughter K Kavitha is facing a CBI and ED probe in the liquor policy case.
Addressing a gathering in Maharashtra's Pandharpur on Tuesday, K Chandrashekar Rao, popularly known as KCR, said, "Congress calls us the B-team of BJP, while BJP calls us the A-team of Congress. We are not anyone’s team."
"We are a team of farmers, marginalised communities,
minorities, and Dalits," he added.
He also emphasised that the BRS is not just a regional party tied to Telangana, but a national party with a mission to bring about a change in India.
"We have just started. We're a national party. I want to ask why there is so much anger towards us as a party? Why so much fear among other parties," KCR asked. Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) was rechristened as the BRS last year. Later, it was registered as a national party.
KCR and his cabinet colleagues arrived in Pandharpur on June 26 in a motorcade of 600 vehicles. He offered prayers at the Vitthal Rukmini temple in the town on Tuesday, ahead of the Ashadhi Ekadashi festival on June 29.
