On Thursday Filmmaker
Madhura Sreedhar Reddy announced that he
would be making a biopic on Telangana State Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao.
“Few called him a separate state visionary. Few called him a regional fanatic who created a wedge between Telugu people. Few called him a dictator in a democratic system. Others called him a protector of democracy with dictatorial approach. Few called him a fighting force; few called him a hasty man.
Few called him a political genius. But for the 4-crore Telangana people, he was the charioteer with a goal… a great leader who made their dreams come true. It didn’t matter as to who said what and who thought what, he simply went ahead with his movement,” Sreedhar, who hails from Telangana, said in a statement.
class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; text-align: justify;">“After listening to
the tales narrated by my father who was part of the Telangana agitation in 1969
and watching the incidents of current time, the director in me gave sleepless
nights. I did some research in this angle and met the Telangana and
Samaikyandhra activists separately.
I discovered that the kind of challenges KCR faced were on par with the challenges that Mahatma Gandhi, Nelson Mandela and Martin Luther King faced during their respective movements.”
While Sreedhar failed to reveal the casting details, he said the filming will begin June 2, 2017 on Telangana Formation Day and it will release on February 17, 2018 coinciding with KCR’s birthday.
