Traversing on the Outer Ring Road (ORR) will now be a costlier affair as the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) has revised the toll rates by nearly 50 per cent. The new rates will be applicable from Wednesday.
Accordingly, the toll rate for cars, jeeps and light motor vehicles is increased by nearly 50 per cent, from the existing Rs.1.05 to Rs.1.58 per km. Same is the case with other category vehicles, expect for buses and two-axle trucks, for which the rates have been revised by 27 per cent. The
rates for these vehicles have been increased from Rs 3.53 to Rs 4.50 per km.
The HMDA had appealed to the government to revise the toll rates to meet the rising operation and maintenance expenditure of ORR, besides aiding in repayment of loans and annuity.Despite the increase in the toll rates, HMDA authorities claimed the rates on ORR were lesser than the prevailing rates on different expressways in the country. The HMDA authorities have also appealed to ORR users to cooperate and extend their support.
