NTR Garden will soon be renamed as Ambedkar Gardens. The government proposed to change the name of NTR Garden following the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority’s (HMDA) nod to allot five acres of land towards the installation of 125 feet Ambedkar statue in the garden premises.

The NTR Garden name will be confined to the NTR graveyard and its premises only. The HMDA had decided to hand over five acres of vacant land in the existing NTR Gardens, sprawling over 25

acres near the State Secretariat and Hussain Sagar lake.

The Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had announced the installation of 125 feet Ambedkar statue and a big memorial park on the sprawling 20 acres at amusement park and NTR gardens butting the State Secretariat in April 2016. The government had proposed to complete the statue and memorial works by April this year but the delay in finding a suitable location hampered the entire process.
