Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on Sunday announced that as promised, the State government will provide old-age pensions to people aged above 57 years commencing from next month. The government has reduced the eligibility age limit from 65 years to 57 years. He also announced that plans are afoot to launch a life insurance scheme for the weavers providing insurance coverage of Rs 5 lakh in case of accidental death.

Addressing the local body representatives after inaugurating the Integrated District Collectorate Complex at Sircilla on Sunday, Chief Minister Chandrashekhar Rao made it clear that none can stop the journey that he embarked on to develop Telangana State and set it as an example for others. He remembered that many people expressed doubts whether people of Telangana could achieve anything, but it had proved that anything can be achieve if there is integrity, purity of purpose and speech to achieve one’s goals.

“The goal has been set and we are moving successfully in that direction. The results are visible for everyone to see. There are always the political detractors and also others who are always pessimistic who must be ignored, to scale new heights,” he said.

Further, the Chief Minister stated that the government will spend Rs 45,000 crore for empowerment of the Dalits in the State over next five years under the Chief Minister’s Dalit Empowerment scheme. “We have lifted Godavari River to irrigate our lands. Can’t



we uplift the Dalits to ensure development of all?” he questioned. 

He announced enhanced stipend for nursing students — Rs 5,000 for first year, Rs 6,000 for second year and Rs 7,000 for third year students. He also assured a government medical college and also a government engineering college for Rajanna Sircilla district in next year.

Chandrashekhar Rao stated that proposals were being prepared for development of Sri Rajarajeshwara Swamy temple in Vemulawada. He sanctioned Rs 5 crore for construction of a community hall in Sircilla town and also approved proposals for construction of a few checkdams as well.

Earlier, Chief minister K Chandrashekhar Rao inaugurated series of projects including the first ever Institute of Driving, Training and Research (IDTR) in the State, during his whirlwind tour to Rajanna Sircilla district on Sunday. He had also inaugurated the double bedroom dignity housing project at Mandepalli village in Tangallapalli mandal of Sircilla Assembly constituency, and the government nursing college at Sircilla where he interacted with the nursing students on their education and hostel facilities. 

He had also inaugurated a modern agriculture market yard located at Sardapur village on the outskirts of Sircilla, and also the Integrated District Collectorate Complex. He laid foundation stone for the Padmashali Bhavan in the town.
