Hyderabad: A 20-year-old B.Tech student was killed and three others sustained injuries, with one being critical, after the car in which they were travelling hit a stationary vehicle at Jubilee Hills Road Number 45 late on Saturday night.
According to the police, the deceased identified as M Jatin Varma, a resident of Gachibowli, was going along with his three friends — M Roshan, Sai Karthik and Nikhil — to attend a marriage function. The accident occurred past midnight when Karthik, who was driving the vehicle, lost control and hit a Skoda car that was parked on the roadside. “The impact was on the left side of the vehicle. Jatin, who sat next to the driver’s seat, sustained critical injuries as the car flipped twice,”
said K Sattaiah, Sub-Inspector, Jubilee Hills, adding that he was declared brought dead on being shifted to the hospital.
The injured Karthik, Roshan and Nikhil too were shifted to a private hospital. Nikhil, who was sitting in rear sustained severe head injuries was his condition was stated to be critical, the SI added.
A senior police officer said the passengers were under the influence of alcohol. “They consumed liquor at a wine shop,” he said, adding that Karthik’s Blood Alcohol Concentration level was nearly 80 when checked. The police registered a case and investigation was on. Jatin’s body was handed over to the family after an autopsy at Gandhi Hospital morgue on Sunday evening.
