Kumram Bheem Asifabad: A 46-year-old sanitation worker died while undergoing treatment and another worker sustained injuries after coming under the wheels of a crane during immersion of Ganesh idols in the Peddavagu stream near Kagaznagar on Wednesday night.

The worker, Lingampelli Nagesh, suffered grievous injuries to both legs and bled profusely, while Prem had minor injuries when they were crushed by a crane being used for immersing the idols.

Nagesh was rushed to a hospital in Karimnagar where he died while undergoing treatment. Prem’s condition is learnt



to be stable.

Negligence by the crane operator is suspected to have caused of the accident. The operator has been absconding following the mishap.

Sirpur (T) MLA Dr P Harish Babu and Additional Collector (Local Bodies) Shraddha Shukla visited the spot and found out about the accident.

Meanwhile, sanitation workers boycotted duties demanding compensation to the kin of the victim. They withdrew their protest when police assured them of action against the crane operator and justice.
