The Osmania University Centenary Celebrations Alumni Committee will adopt 100 villages in the State and work for development in the fields of education, health and sanitation. Selecting ten village from ten districts, the alumni also aims to extend support in agriculture, irrigation and other welfare activities.
Speaking to press persons here on Thursday, Shyam Mohan, Chairman, OU Centenary Celebrations Alumni Committee said the adopted villages would be named as ‘Osmania Modern Villages’ and former students of the university who belong to a particular village will be made in-charge for developmental
programmes there. “We will work in tandem with district collectors in selecting the villages,” he said.
The committee has also decided to construct an ‘Alumni Bhavan’ along with a study center for all India and State cadre examinations for hte university students on the varsity campus, Mr.Mohan said adding that facilities for students on the campus will also be improved for a quality stay and study. Also scheduled as part of the centenary celebrations are a Car Rally that will start from districts and culminate at OU on April 16 and later, a ‘Global Alumni Meet’ on December, 23.
