Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Monday called upon the Vice Chancellors to begin cleansing universities and improve infrastructural facilities in hostels. It was the responsibility of Vice Chancellors to revive the university education in the State, which took a beating under the rule of migrants, he said at a review meeting on the proposed Centenary Celebrations of Osmania University (OU).
Chandrashekar Rao said the State government would not hesitate to spend any amount of money to restore OU to its past historical glory. The Chief Minister wanted the historic Osmania University Centenary Celebrations to be held on a grand scale. He said it was unfortunate that OU which was once regarded as one of the best universities in the world
had lost its fame.
The Chief Minister said there should be a festive atmosphere when the celebrations began. The festivities should be held in all the affiliated colleges of OU including the Nizam’s College and Koti Women’s College. Students from Kakatiya University and others should also take part in the celebrations, he said.
Chandrashekar Rao said all those who passed out of OU and were settled in different parts of the world should be invited and felicitated on the occasion.The Chief Minister also held discussions on various aspects of the proposed celebrations such as whether to invite the President or the Prime Minister, the number of days the celebrations should be held, the funds required etc.
