Osmania University
would turn 100 years in 2018. The centenary celebrations of the 3rd oldest
university of Southern India will be held in 2018 and the Osmania University
administration is mulling to invite President Pranab Mukherjee or Prime
Minister Narendra Modi for celebrations. The university would soon form a
full-fledged committee comprising professors, principals of various colleges
and deans to plan the event.
7th Nizam of
Hyderabad Nawab Osman Ali Khan
had founded the university in 1918. Named after
its founder, OU was the first varsity to have Urdu as a medium of instruction.
A new administrative building, named as centenary administrative building,
costing Rs.10 cr is being constructed to mark the occasion.
The university has also created an email address registrar@osmania.ac.in where ex-students, retired professors, teaching and non-teaching staff can enroll themselves for the centenary celebrations.
