The State government on Monday extended the last date for the One Time Settlement (OTS) scheme for payment of pending property tax and water bills arrears till October 31.

Municipal Administration Minister K T Rama Rao made the announcement in the State Assembly on Monday extending the scheme by another 45 days from its original deadline of September 15.

Under the OTS scheme implemented across all 141 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs), the State government allowed waiver of 90 per cent of accumulated interest arrears on property tax upon clearing the entire arrears in one go. Similarly,



full interest will be waived off for water bill defaulters on payment of the entire arrears in single payment.

Against property tax arrears (including 10 per cent interest on arrears) of Rs 1,545.75 crore for 5.41 lakh properties, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) earned Rs 131.79 crore from 60,919 properties under the OTS scheme so far. In the remaining ULBs, about 72,460 property owners cleared dues amounting to Rs 50.31 crore till date. Arrears amounting to Rs 278.7 crore against 5.32 lakh properties are yet to be cleared in the remaining ULBs.
