The Nehru Zoological Park, Hyderabad, which continues to be the most favoured and sought-after facility to spend a day in the city, attracted visitors in large numbers on Wednesday, setting a new record. Wednesday being the start of New Year and also a general holiday, the zoo had over 33,000 visitors thronging the sprawling premises.
Given the huge turnout, the authorities made special arrangements. The public address system
was used throughout the day to alert the visitors on taking care of children accompanying them and also their belongings.
Additional security personnel were deployed at all the animal enclosures, and additional booking counters were opened keeping in view the rush. The authorities also set up three first-aid centres with nurses to take care of visitors in case of emergencies.
