Owaisi is not for sale: KCR

Fri 23 Nov 2018, 13:08:51
Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on Thursday came out swinging in support of AIMIM and its president Asaduddin Owaisi castigating the Congress for attempting to buy out Owaisi. He stated that he had always been proud of AIMIM for standing on its own and keeping the Telangana identity alive even under the Andhra regime.

“Owaisi is not for sale, neither for Rs 25 lakh nor even Rs 25 crore,” he declared. He stated that Asaduddin Owaisi had agreed to attend public meetings in support of TRS candidates in the State only as a goodwill gesture for the good work done by the TRS government towards minority development.

At the Praja Ashirwada Sabha in Nirmal, the Chief Minister tore into the Congress for not understanding the sentiments of Muslims and

commitment of AIMIM for welfare of minorities. He observed that neither Congress nor TDP had any respect or understanding of sentiments of the Muslim community. “They attend programmes wearing Muslim caps and shawls during Ramzan and get Imam-e-Jameen tied to their hands, but do not even know its importance which is a blessing and wishes for safe return home,” he said.

Chandrashekhar Rao said minorities were restricted to vote bank by the Congress and TDP during their 60 year rule. “Owaisi agreed to support our candidate and attend TRS meeting at Nirmal following my request. But the Congress is resorting to cheap backdoor politics by offering Rs 25 lakh to his partymen to prevent him from coming to the meeting,” he accused.
