Padmini Narsimha Reddy joins BJP, then quits

It was a short-lived joy for the BJP when Padmini Narsimha Reddy, wife of Telangana Congress manifesto committee chairman and former Deputy Chief Minister Damodar Rajnarsimha, went back on her decision to join the BJP within hours on Thursday.

Saving blushes for the Congress, Padmini Reddy announced at a hurriedly called press



conference in Sangareddy late in the evening that she did not expect the outpouring of anguish from her supporters following the decision to join the BJP. She decided to join the BJP after the Congress high command refused to entertain her request for a party ticket to contest from Sangareddy Assembly constituency.
