The government appointed noted journalists' leader Palle Ravi Kumar Goud as chairman of the Telangana State Toddy Tapper Cooperative Finance Corporation Limited. Chief Secretary A. Santhi Kumari issued orders to this effect on Thursday.
Ravi Kumar played a key role in the Telangana statehood agitation. As president of the Telangana Journalists Forum (TJF), he worked closely with then TRS president and now Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao and played an active role in the agitation between 2001 and 2014.
Ravi Kumar is working actively with the BRS
in Munugode Assembly constituency. His wife Palle Kalyani is Chandur mandal president in Munugode constituency. His father, the late Palle Lingaiah. was a key participant in Telangana armed struggle.
Hailing from the Gowda community, Palle Ravi has a good reputation among BC communities. He worked as a journalist in prominent vernacular dailies from 1996 to 2011. He participated in the Telangana movement from 1997. Taking all these factors into consideration, Chief Minister Chandrashekar Rao appointed him chairman.
