Tank Bund on Sunday evening looked nothing like usual and it had an air of cheer, fun and frolic. The Sunday Funday concept ensured that the stretch saw Hyderabadis in large numbers coming to have fun in a carnivalesque atmosphere.
Spotted on the road were people relishing street snacks, clicking selfies and making the most of a pleasant September evening. Kulfis, popcorn, cotton candy and other typical carnival snacks apart from food trucks selling steaming hot dosas and other snacks were busy through the evening.
A large number of children were also seen with their families and as tweeted earlier by MA&UD Minister KT Rama Rao, there were also many activities aimed at children. Multiple huge inflatable climbing walls and slides were put up and dozens of kids were spotted on those,
having a great time.
Many children were also seen zooming across the stretch on rollerblades and skateboards. Also spotted were clowns, stilt walkers, street magicians entertaining children and adults alike.
Among the highlights of the evening were multiple street performances by folk artists, especially the Uggukatha troupe from Yadadri district. The Sunday Funday also turned out to be an opportunity for unique businesses as there were several stalls selling probiotic, vegan food, handmade crafts and more.
While there were also a sizable number of police personnel ensuring safety and handling the crowds, the authorities also took care of basic necessities with portable public toilets located along the stretch.
