With the Sunday Funday concept becoming a major draw at Tank Bund, chances are that the initiative could be extended to other parts of the city, especially Hyderabad’s most famous landmark, the 430-year-old Charminar.
Indications of the Sunday Funday event, or a similar concept being on the cards at Charminar, have come in the form of a tweet from Urban Development Special Chief Secretary Arvind Kumar on Monday.
Pointing out that Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister KT Rama Rao, whose idea the Funday was, and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi had suggested a similar event at Charminar every Sunday, Arvind Kumar said this was in the wake of the ‘overwhelming response’ to
the programme at Tank Bund and called for suggestions for the event.
“Minister @KTRTRS & MP #Hyderabad Janab @asadowaisi Saab, noticing the overwhelming response to Sunday-Funday at #Tankbund have suggested that a similar event can be planned at #Charminar every Sunday! Suggestions / advice welcome so that we can plan accordingly,” (sic) Arvind Kumar tweeted.
People are already coming out in support of the idea, pointing out that it would help small vendors around the historic monument, apart from taking off some of the crowd burden from Tank Bund. Some have called for similar events in every city in the State.
