Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and Telugu Desam president N. Chandrababu Naidu on Friday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi betrayed his state by not keeping his promise of granting it the Special Category status. He tweeted that the PM’s visit to the state was to help the YSRC, whose chief was neck-deep in corruption.
He said Mr Modi broke the promise he made in the holy city of Tirupati with Lord Venkateswara as witness. He said Mr Modi had promised to punish who swindled Rs 1 lakh crore and turned the state into “Scam Andhra
Pradesh”, but has now joined hands with the same people.
Mr Naidu said Mr pushed farmers, youth, minorities and the state’s economy into deep distress. He said the Prime Minister was visiting the state without fulfilling even one of the promises made at the time of the state’s bifurcation five years ago.
The TD’s national spokesperson Lanka Dinakar also criticised the Prime Minister’s visit to Rayalaseema region, saying that the Central government ignored development of the backward regions in Andhra Pradesh.
