The Abdullapurmet police on Tuesday arrested four persons including three staff members of Swathi Institute of Technology and Sciences at Batasingaram, in connection with the question paper leakage case of Board Diploma Semester Examinations
The arrested persons are G Krishna Murthy (57), Administration Officer, S Venkateshwarlu, a Mathematics lecturer and Chief Superintendent, and K Krishna Mohan, a lecturer and Joint Superintendent from Choutuppal apart from M Venkat Ram Reddy, Government College Chemistry lecturer cum observer.
Krishna Murthy, Venkateshwarlu and Krishna Mohan, who work for the same institution, are well known to each other and Venkat Ram Reddy was appointed by the Board as observer for Swathi Institute of Technology and Sciences for smooth conduct of Board Diploma Semester Examinations, which were scheduled between February 8 to 12.
To enhance college reputation
According to the police, Krishna Murthy, Venkateshwarlu, Krishna Mohan had plotted to increase the pass percentage of their college and enhance its reputation in semester examinations by leaking
question papers to their students before the exams. For this, they sought the support of Venkat Ram Reddy to leak the question paper.
“On the examination day, Krishna Murthy requested Venkat Ram Reddy to come late to the college, to which the latter agreed. As per Murthy’s instructions, Venkateshwarlu downloaded the copies of question papers and gave them to Krishna Mohan to circulate them among students,” said an official.
Likewise, they leaked the question papers of Applied Engineering Mathematics and Electric Circuits to the students before commencement of exam which also got circulated to other students of several colleges through WhatsApp.
Following a complaint from the Board officials, the Abdullapurmet police have booked a case of cheating and Telangana Public Examinations (Prevention of Malpractices and Unfair Means) Act-1997 and arrested them. They were produced before the court and remanded in judicial custody.
Officials said a report is being submitted to the State Diploma Board for taking departmental action and also verifying the complicity of other members.
