Police forces deployed at Goshamahal

The city police made tight security arrangements in Goshamahal Assembly constituency, since the BJP leaders gave a call to the local public to observe bandh on friday. Mild tension prevailed in Old city when police obstructed the replacement of Rani Avanti Bai lodh statue in Jumeratbazar on Thursday morning hours, which further lead to lathicharge in the area.

Police installed pickets in the area and deployed large number of police personnel to take stock of the



situation. Senior police officials by camping in the area are monitoring the bandh today. Since Thursday night they have intensified the patrolling in Dhoolpet, Mangalhat, Jumeratbazar and other places in Goshamahal constituency. Police personnel deployed heavily at the important X roads and business centres to foil attempts of BJP leaders in closing the shops forcibly. Senior police officials who are monitoring the bandh said till now the situation is peaceful.
