A day after identifying 12 containment clusters in the city, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) along with police and other departments swung into action and barricaded these clusters to prevent movement of people in these areas.
The decision to contain these clusters was taken as 89 Covid-19 positive cases were detected from here and authorities decided to put special focus on these pockets. Apart from extensive spraying of disinfectants, round-the-clock surveillance is taken up in the areas.
On Thursday, Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar along with Director General of Police Mahender Reddy and other senior officials visited a containment cluster at Nampally and inspected measures put in place for effectively controlling the spread of virus.
A special
team comprising health and civic body officials are going to each and every household in the clusters to screen the residents for any possible symptoms of coronavirus.
In case of Markaz congregation returnees who had tested negative during the screening, health personnel are seeking to ensure their quarantine till April 21 and stamping them accordingly. The family members and contacts of positive cases from the Delhi religious meeting and other positive cases, are being shifted to government quarantine centres for screening.
Instructions have been issued to shift symptomatic persons to Gandhi Hospital along with security. Those who turn negative during the screening will be prescribed home quarantine till April 28, officials said.
