Police launched cordon and search operations in two colonies in the vicinity and picked up 60 people, including two Omani nationals for questioning.

At least 250 cops cordoned off Madina Colony and Bibi Ka Chashma localities near Falaknuma Palace Hotel at 5.30 am on Friday. For three hours, police sanitized the area, conducted searches, took fingerprints and ran them through police database.

Police verified fingerprints of 60 suspects and found 14 of them have a criminal record. Fourteen suspects along with eight history-sheeters taken into custody are being interrogated.

The search team also issued two non-bailable warrants. “We have identified two Omani nationals. They came to India for treatment, but we suspect they are here for a contract marriage. We are questioning them,” said South Zone DCP V Satyanarayana. Police seized 51 two-wheelers, three autos and two cars as owners failed to



produce registration documents.

Special Protection Group (SPG), US Secret Service, Intelligence Security Wing and City Security Wing sleuths visited Taj Falaknuma Hotel and reviewed security. On Friday, another meeting was held by city police with US Secret Service and US Consulate members.

After the meetings, it was decided that SPG and US Secret Service personnel will take handle hotel’s internal security while Telangana police will safeguard hotel’s periphery to complete a fool-proof five-layer security cordon. Octopus commandos will patrol hotel’s surrounding areas Police also launched a census of 3,500 residents of Farooq Nagar, Fatima Nagar, Al Jubail Colony and Jangammet areas, abutting Falaknuma Palace.

Police appealed to residents not to provide shelter to any stranger in over next five days and also requested them to alert them about any suspicious movements.
