Special police teams probing into the interstate human trafficking cases have rescued another six babies that took the total count of babies thus rescued to 24. The babies have since been shifted to Sishu Vihar. Police teams from TG along with local police of other states are searching for Kiran and Kannaiah—the alleged kingpins of the racket. They have identified over a dozen such kingpins from other states as well from whom they will ascertain whether the 24 babies were kidnapped or bought. They are also probing whether there is an IVF angle to this, police disclosed.
Some of the traffickers who were arrested two days back during the rescue operations that they have not seen Kiran and Kanaiah but have just heard their names. They also confessed before police that they are habitual human traffickers and have been into this profession for six to seven years. Police have collected the DNA samples of another six babies to match them with their genetic parents to avoid false claims. Until then, the rescued babies
will be kept in Sishu Vihar.
The teams have intensified their operations in Delhi, Pune, Mumbai and other states after they got the lead that Kiran is from of Delhi and Kanaiah is from Pune. Till date, 24 babies have been rescued from various districts of TG, AP, Pune and Delhi. Additional police teams including Special Operation Teams (SOT) Rachakonda along with Medipally police and zonal teams comprising crime, IT and law and order cops are spread in different states are hunting for prime accused Kiran and Kannaiah.
Local trafficker A Shoba Rani, who on May 22 was trapped by Akshara Jyothi Foundation Rama Krishnagar, Peerzadiguda, under Medipally police limits, was considered the kingpin till two days back. Police teams who later rescued six babies learnt that Kiran and Kanaiah are the real kingpins of the interstate racket. Our officers are working on the case and before long we will crack it down, a senior police officer disclosed.
