Amidst elaborate arrangements, the polling in the Bye-election to the Telangana Legislative Council from the Graduates constituency of Warangal-Nalgonda-Khammam has just begun. Over 4 lakh 63 thousand graduates are eligible to cast their votes at 605 polling stations in this constituency spread over 34 assembly segments in the undivided districts of Warangal, Khammam and Nalgonda, presently covering 12 districts of the State. The polling will continue till 4 PM.
The by-poll was necessitated after P Rajeshwar Reddy of BRS resigned following his election to the Assembly from the Jangaon constituency in the Last year’s Assembly elections.
Though
there are 52 candidates in the fray, the main contest is among BJP, BRS and Congress candidates. All Major political parties took the by-election prestigious and held high pitched campaigns to woo the electors, especially unemployed youth.
Meanwhile, election authorities have asked all private businesses to grant necessary facilities to their employees who are registered voters in the constituency, like permission to attend office/duty late, adjustments of shifts, short absences of duty hours or otherwise, so as to enable them to exercise their right of franchise to vote on the day of polls.
