Power cuts will return if Mahakutami wins says KTR

IT and Industries Minister KT Rama Rao warned farmers that power cuts would be back if the Congress-led Mahakutami was voted to power in the upcoming Telangana Assembly elections scheduled for December 7.

Earlier, farmers faced difficulties to water standing crops due to frequent power cuts. But, in a first-of-its-kind initiative, the TRS-led Telangana government supplied 24 hours power to the agriculture sector by overcoming the electricity crisis within six months after coming to power in the State. Farmers, who used to stage protests demanding discom officials to supply electricity, are now staging dharnas asking the officials to limit the supply.

Reminding the farmers of this, KTR said power cuts would return if the Mahakutami won the upcoming elections. The Minister was addressing election campaigns in Ankireddypalli, Venugopalapur, Obulpur and Gandilolachapet of Thangallapalli mandal on Thursday.

Both Congress and TDP, which neglected the State during their 67-year rule, are seeking votes from people under



the banner of Mahakutami, he said. “Be careful while casting your vote because political parties, which created hurdles for the formation of Telangana, are now on a single platform,” KTR said.

He asked voters to compare the development during TRS’ term with that of Congress and TDP. “Welfare schemes are not implemented in the States where Congress is in power. While the State government was making serious efforts to complete irrigation projects to supply water to one crore acres, Congress leaders are creating hurdles by filing court cases,” KTR said.

Poor people would get more benefits if KCR was made Chief Minister once again. Earlier, aged persons were unable to purchase medicines with Rs 200 pension, doled out by the previous government. But, KCR enhanced this to Rs 1,000. The amount would further be enhanced to Rs 2,016 if TRS was voted to power, KTR said. Besides Rs 3,016 unemployment allowance, RB amount would also be enhanced to Rs 10,000 from Rs 8,000, he said.
