The beginning of the week-long celebration, to be held on Oct 31 on the occasion of the 548th birthday of Guru Nanak Dev, said members of the Gurudwara Saheb, Secunderabad, on Friday . The festival, Prakash Utsav, will be held on a massive scale across the state, said organisers listing out some of the events that will be showcased as part of it.
It will include, gatka performances, sword fights and the display of the panj pyaras in their traditional attires.`Vishal Deewan' (mass congregation) will be held at the Exhibition Grounds, where over 35,000 to 40,000 devotees are expected to converge along with cabinet ministers and MLAs from
Telangana, they added.The procession will culminate with a Guru ka Langar for all the devotees.
Surinder Pal, committee member of Gurudwara Saheb said: “We believe in spreading peace and communal harmony. That is what we have set out to do for the next one week in the honour of Guru Nanak ji.“The schedule also includes two grand `Nagar Keertans' from Gurudwara Saheb on October 31 and another from Gurudwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha on November 2. Thousands of devotees are expected to take part in processions which will proceed via Natraj talkies, Clock Tower, Kingsway , Monda Market and reach Gurudwara Saheb.
