President Droupadi Murmu yesterday asked the people of the country to imbibe the spirit and follow the principles of freedom fighters to pay fitting tributes to them.
Addressing the valedictory programme of 125th Birth Anniversary Celebrations of Freedom Fighter Alluri Sitarama Raju in Hyderabad, the President paid rich tributes to Sitarama Raju who fought for the rights of Adivasis and freedom from British rule. Stating that the people of the country are grateful for Sitarama Raju for his sacrifices for the sake of the nation like Bhagat Singh, she said the fighting spirit for just cause
will continue to inspire generations to come. She also recalled a song written by eminent revolutionary writer Shri Shri for a film on Sitarama Raju....which continue to inspire for generations.
The president has virtually inaugurated Alluri Sitarama Raju Smriti Vanam developed at Bhimavaram on the occasion and unveiled an animation film on the life of Sitarama Raju. Telangana Governor Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao and Union Culture minister G Kishan Reddy are among those who attended the programme.
