President Droupadi Murmu will be reaching Hyderabad this evening on a five-day southern sojourn to Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. The President will reach the Air Force Station Hakimpet this evening. She will reach the Rashtrapati Nilayam at Bolarum in Secunderabad by road.
The President’s office will function from the Nilayam till 21st of this month. Akashvani’s correspondent reports that the Telangana state Government has made elaborate arrangements for the President’s visit and stay.
President Droupadi Murmu is visiting Hyderabad for the third time for a southern sojourn after being elected to the highest office of the country. The President of India stays at least once a year in Rashtrapati Nilayam at Bollarum and conducts official business from here.
The building of the Rashtrapati Nilayam was constructed in 1860 as the country house of the British Resident at Secunderabad and it became the President’s retreat after Hyderabad State’s accession to India in 1948. The First President Babu Rajendra Prasad had stayed at Bollarum in 1955 and since then, every President visited Hyderabad for
southern sojourn at least for a few days every year.
During her week-long visit to Rashtrapati Nilayam this time, President Murmu will award the President’s colours to the College of Defence Management, known as CDM at Secunderabad on Friday.
The President will also inaugurate and lay foundation stones to several initiatives taken at the Nilayam during her visit. Besides, the president will meet public representatives, eminent people, artists and leaders of various communities during her southern sojourn. Lakshmi, Akashvani News, Hyderabad.
During her Andhra Pradesh visit, the President will attend the convocation ceremony of AIIMS Mangalagiri near Amaravathi in Guntur District. Forty-nine (49) undergraduate graduate students and four (04) post-doctoral students will receive the course completion certificates.
President’s Gold Medal for academic excellence will also be presented at the ceremony. Established in 2018, AIIMS Mangalagiri has 39 speciality departments and catered to about 21 lakh people in the last six years.
