President Pranab Mukherjee hailed several programmes initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying they would open up new vistas for India. Mukherjee described initiatives like Digitial India, Clean India and Make in India as important initiatives.
“India is currently on the cusp of a major leap towards higher economic growth trajectory. While most of the major economies of world are still limping even almost a decade after the 2008 global economic crisis, the Indian economy is moving ahead and growing fast. Programmes initiated by Prime Minister like Digital India, Clean India, Make-in-India are important initiatives, fulfilment of which will open up new vistas for
us,” he said, speaking at the the Centenary celebrations of the Federation of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FTAPCCI) here on Friday.
Mukherjee also called upon the industrialists and the corporate sector to pro-actively take part in the various programmes initiated by the Union government to ensure that fruits of development reach the common man. Mukherjee also compared the growth stories of India and its erstwhile colonial ruler, Britain. “Just a couple of days back we have seen a news that the annual income of our colonial masters is less than that of India. It is a matter of great satisfaction,” he said.
