Hyderabad: Chief Secretary S P Singh launched the first round of Pulse Polio programme by administering polio drops to children in Jubilee Hills on Sunday.

Singh said this round was aimed to cover nearly 36.56 lakh children in the age group of 0 to 5 years in the State, of which 3.98 lakh would be covered in the city.

Around 22,768 polio booths were set up to carry



out this task, while 787 mobile teams were formed at 737 points, to cover children identified under high risk. The programme would continue for two more days to cover the children not covered on Sunday.

He complimented the officials of Medical and Health Department for making concerted efforts to make this programme a success besides creating massive awareness among parents.
