Motorists heading towards Nagarjuna circle from KBR Park side can now look forward to smooth flow of traffic as the steel bridge constructed under the Strategic Road Development Programme (SRDP) will be thrown open for traffic on Friday.
The structure has been completed in three months and a major portion of the works were completed during lockdown. This will be yet another SRDP structure to be opened for traffic in a span of a month after the launch of first level Biodiversity flyover, RHS flyover at Kamineni and LHS underpass at LB Nagar junction that were launched a few days back.
The
steel bridge is constructed to overcome the traffic bottlenecks on the route where vehicular movement used to slowdown invariably due to a narrow carriageway. Considering all these factors, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) built the facility at a cost of Rs.5.95 crore.
GHMC officials said the structure was constructed using plate girders of E350 grade as conventional RCC Bridge was not feasible in obligatory span (single) over the graveyard. It was easy to handle, transport and instal due to light weight of steel girders, officials explained.
