In view of the spike in Covid-19 cases, Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat has asked people to compulsorily wear masks in public places. Petty cases were booked against as many as 832 persons on Tuesday alone for violating the ‘Mask On’ policy in the commissionerate.

“According to the government order to stop the spread of the virus, it is mandatory for everyone to wear a mask in public places. Apart from this, regular usage of sanitisers and physical distancing should be followed,” Bhagwat

said, adding that Rs 1,000 challans are being issued against those not wearing masks.

“We are identifying mask violators with the help of the footages from the surveillance cameras installed across the police commissionerate,” he said.

“Marriages and any kind of function should be limited to only 200 people. It is better to avoid any kind of social gatherings. If needed, gatherings should be organised with following safety precautions,” he said.
