The Rachakonda police authorities have now proposed setting up three new traffic police stations under its jurisdiction. Last year, the Commissionerate witnessed 688 road accident fatalities, which is the highest in the State. Additional traffic police stations will go a long way in reducing the road fatality rate in the eastern parts of Greater Hyderabad, officials said.
The new traffic police stations proposed are at Adibatla and Ibrahimpatnam, which will be carved out of Vanasthalipuram and Kushaiguda traffic police stations and Ghatkesar traffic police station will be established after bifurcation of Kushaiguda traffic police station.
Traffic officials said that the existing Vanasthalipuram traffic police station covers 13 law and order police station areas, including Vanasthalipuram, Hayathnagar, Abdullapurmet, Ibrahimpatnam, Yacharam, Manchal, Madugul, Meerpet, Adibatla, Balapur, Pahadishareef, Maheshwaram and Kandukur police
stations.
“The area is fast growing and volume of vehicular traffic is increasing steadily with new colonies coming up every other day. Moreover, there are several IT companies coming up around Adibatla and Ibrahimpatnam,” says a senior traffic official.
Traffic police officials are stressing for Ghatkesar police station by taking away Medipally and Ghatkesar law and order police station areas from Kushaiguda traffic police stations. “There is heavy volume of traffic as the Ghatkesar road connects Warangal and other towns. Moreover, the road leads to the famous Yadagirigutta temple in Yadadri district,” said the traffic police.
The police stations are expected to be sanctioned soon by the government. “Once the orders are issued the police stations will start from a temporary structure and soon they will have own buildings and other required infrastructure,” the Rachakonda police said.
