Party leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi-Vadra are expected to take part in a bus yatra next week, as campaigning for the Assembly polls intensifies. The TPCC has proposed to launch the yatra on October 14 or 15. Rahul Gandhi is likely to take part for three days, from October 18 to 20, it is learnt.
Party sources said that Priyanka Gandhi will inaugurate the bus yatra and join it for two or three days. The bus yatra came up for discussion in a meeting between AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge and TPCC chief A. Revanth Reddy in New Delhi on Friday.
The yatra will cover all 119 Assembly constituencies and is aimed at exposing the failures of BRS government and taking the Congress' 'six guarantees' and 'declarations' to the people.
TPCC chief A. Revanth Reddy, CLP leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Lok Sabha members N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, and Komatireddy Venkat Reddy will cover all the constituencies.
AICC president Kharge
will join the bus yatra for some time, as will the Chief Ministers of Congress-ruled states, Siddaramaiah (Karnataka), Ashok Gehlot (Rajasthan), Bhupesh Baghel (Chhattisgarh) and Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu (Himachal Pradesh).
Senior leaders Digvijay Singh and Jairam Ramesh will also participate in the yatra.
Sources said that TPCC has submitted a road map for bus yatra to AICC for approval, including a plan for street corner and roadside meetings where it would constituency-specific issues.
The main objective would be to project unity in the Congress leadership, besides publicising the 'six guarantees' and 'declarations'
There has been no activity at ground level after its public meeting held at Tukkuguda on the city outskirts on September 17, in the face of increased campaigning by the rival parties. The plan of the bus yatra is expected to revive the cadres' spirits.
